Asterias Projects
The Asterias Organisation is currently engaged in a number of projects "Serving People in Kenya":
Thogoto Home for the Aged

Thogoto Home for the Aged is an Old Folks Home, beside Compass School in the Kikuyu area in Kenya. There are some 15 elderly residents, both men and women, who have only the very basic facilities necessary for survival. It is heart- breaking to see the lack of facilities that we take for granted here at home. While the Home is managed well and with much love and care, the need is great.
Some facilities have been provided through the generosity of a benefactor in Greenwell Street Presbyterian Church in Newtownards, Northern Ireland but much more support is required to provide a new kitchen, better sleeping accommodation and enhancements to their subsistence farm. Asterias is involved.
Outreach Teams

We believe that teams are an essential aspect of mission. There is no substitute to going and seeing the situation at first hand and that in turn usually has a significant impact on those who go. There is much to learn from our Kenyan brothers and sisters in Christ and seeing God at work in that wonderful country provides a great stimulus and renewed enthusiasm to take part in God's plan.
The Asterias Organisation sent a 12-person team to build a girl's school in Maasailand in July 2007. The team was away for two weeks working on the one site and collectively represented 9 different congregations from Northern Ireland. See our Asterias Team 2007 page for news about the completion of this team's work.
